The `asciicap.py -r rogerbot` installation is an inquiry into the Terminal's capacity to reflect the world and its constituent entities.

As the first means of communication with computers, the Computer Terminal embodies the seminal core of human interaction with the digital realm. Humans created computers in their own image: their logic, their contradictions, their history and evolution have been fossilized in early protocols and standards such as RS-232, ASCII, ANSI X3.64, the VT100 series, and more recently Unicode. By using these technologies as a speculative mirror, the work seeks to expose latent fantasies about an emerging virtual world, casting a bridge to cross the uncanny valley.

Following the work of Gilbert Simondon and Yuk Hui, /guibog pursues the task of discovering new forms of technical individuation. His asciicap.py script opens a channel to allow exploration of the world of digital objects. Through code, encoding, computation, algorithm, the question of whether programs, protocols, databases, or even NPCs constitute distinct digital individualities may find an answer in the near future, hopefully before the advent of AGI.

Central to the installation is "Roger-Antonio PRK", the flying pig plush originally conceived for the 2025 Wuzhen Theater Festival. He serves as the eyes and brain for this installation, housing a webcam and a Raspberry Pi running the asciicap.py script.

As participants interact with their ASCII-transformed video stream, they may reflect on the differences and similarities between the world of human thoughts and the world of bits.
