Splashead was built from one of these many cheap second hand streaming audio machines found in Chinese flea markets. They are used for live streaming (直播) and have many sampled sounds like laughters or sword fight and some sound effects, mostly pitch and reverb. Each of them has a different look and feel, as iis common in Chinese shanzhai subculture.

Splashead was briefly used as the head of a giant ephemeral robot built with Kayu Nakada during Ooktoobr event in 2019.
